Well it finally happened...........................almost !!
Colette flew in on Monday 2nd April closely followed by John the
following evening, but alas Mick & Dave couldn't make it for slightly
different reasons. Mick had been offered a European tour with Elvis
while Dave had a prior commitment with the Virginia Beach Police
Department ! So it was never going to be the full shebang, but a hoot it
was !
I haven't drank or laughed as much in nearly 20 years. In fact I think if we
had had that much fun 20 years ago we might never have gone our
separate ways. Alright we'd have probably died from acute liver
poisoning but..........................................
We did manage to play a few numbers on the Sunday night in Paddy's
Point which were very well received. However it did lead to questions as
to why wasn't Colette still singing..........................more of this at a later
date but, what a voice.............................
John can still make a guitar sing & I still find it embarrassing even
holding one in his presence !
My brother James made a big contribution to the events of that week
being the master of ceremonies. Not once did he shirk his
responsibilities, he was first to the bar every time ! Everyday ! & his
philosophical meanderings have gone down in musical reunion history.
(I can't print them here, you just had to be there)
Plans are afoot for the next one which will be in Los Angeles where we
will hopefully be joined by Mick & Dave.....Can't bloody wait !
Thanks to Pamela & everyone at Paddy's Point & Eddie & staff at Zest
for their hospitality during the week. I get the feeling they might have had
just as good a time as we did !
